A Few words from the President


t gives me great pleasure in welcoming all members of CAFB to the first edition of the electronic newsletter. It is intended to improve networking between members by giving details of the Club’s past events, articles, pictures and future calendar of events. I hope to see this bulletin becoming a platform for members to exchange comments and ideas about how to improve CAFB. I would encourage all members to write to us with his or her comments about the standard of the newsletter with suggestion about how we can improve it. By doing so, we can ensure that all members have a say in what your board can do to galvanize the Franco Bahraini bond that we have all proudly established. Now, we strive to develop our very own website which will eventually replace these newsletters and create a full array of systems and features that will give us real time support for our events and programs.

Upcoming Event

CAFB’s next meeting will be held at BANYAN TREE DESERT SPA AND RESORT on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 12:00 hrs for 12:30 hrs. The programme of our visit and lunch is stated below: >  At 12:00 Arrival of the guests and members. >  At 12:30 Mr Waleed Saffy, General Manager of Al Areen Holding Company, will give a     presentation on "Al Areen" (20 min.). He will be followed by Ms. Helene Poirier, Senior ICT     Consultant with Eacom (10 min.) and Mr. Jean-Michel Pain, Acatel-Lucent representative in     Bahrain (10 min.). Finally, Mr. Sami Ayari (Bayan Tree General Manager) will give a presentation     on "Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort" (20 min.). >  At 13:30 a lunch will be served at Rimal Restaurant >  At 15:00 a tour will start. It will mainly cover the Spa and the Village. Please also let us know if you would like a vegetarian main course at Lunch. CAFB AGM was held at the Regency Intercontinental Hotel on 13th June. The President gave his report about the Club's activities during the last twelve months and indicated that the number of members has grown to about 101 members. He also spoke about the Club's future plans. The Treasurer presented also his report with details of the Club's revenues and expenditure during last year.

At the dinner, the Chairman of the French Week Committee spoke about the success of the FW which was held during (2-8) May 2007 and gave details of the events together with a slide show. Members and guests had a delightful evening with food and entertainment.
