New Beginnings
The new year is indeed a harbinger of change here at Ohlala!, as we start off the new year with new ideas, new content, and a new editor. It is with enormous pleasure (and some trepidation) that I take on my new responsibilities as editor-in-chief. It’s a new beginning for me too, as I return to the island I grew up on after a long stint abroad. Much in the way of roads and buildings has changed, but Bahrain is still the warm, diverse place I remember it being, replete with opportunity and prospects for growth.
You’ll be seeing quite a few changes in the magazine over the next few months as we strive to focus and improve our content. For starters, there’s a new section, The Scoop, where we’ll be bringing you independent reviews and recommendations of what Bahrain has to offer, from food to gadgets to gyms. And because you, the readers, are the reason we do what we do, we’d like to hear a lot more from you. We want your input and requests for everything from the Fooding columns to the health section, where we’ll be answering reader questions.
This month we scoured the island in search of the perfect burger, so leaf through to page 32 to see who won us over. We’ve also got an interesting interview with Massari, who pleasantly surprised us with his thoughts and demeanor. If Bahrain isn’t cold enough for you and you need a properly wintry getaway, check out our ski resort guide in the travel section.
We hope you like what we’ve done with the magazine, and please don’t hesitate to send us your input. We pray the new year brings you and your loved ones (at least some of) the joy and adventure you’re after. To quote one of my favorite movies of all time, here’s looking at you, kid.
Definitely more to come. Enjoy this issue and spread the word!
