Catholic Marriage Care Training |

At the invitation of our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Thomas Quadros, a Marriage Training Program was held from 13th – 16th November, 2008 at Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium.
Ms. Ann Knowles Foster and Ms. Jenny Hughes from the U.K. based Organization “MARRIAGE CARE” conducted the Training: 10 hours of the training course were distributed over three evenings, and an 8-hour ‘day session’ held on Friday, 14th Nov.
51 Parishioners attended the Training aimed at imparting knowledge for developing skills needed in conducting of Marriage Preparation Courses in the parish.
The theme topics were summarized under “The 3 Cs’ and 3 Ss’”: Communication, Commitment, Conflict Management, and Spirituality, Sexuality, Self-esteem.
A combination of Lectures & Role Play, Inter-active Sessions, and Group Activities were employed by the Trainers.
In the final session, all participants were divided into six groups and required to give a Presentation that was to be designed, compiled, and executed by the team members, on the topic assigned to each group by the Trainers from among the 3Cs’ and 3 Ss’.
These Presentations were unique in that they received 3 levels of feedback: First from the presenting group members themselves, next from the other course participants, and finally from the Trainers themselves. Without exception, every Group was able to make very meaningful and innovative Presentations that contributed tremendously to the learning process, while making it a thoroughly enjoyable activity.
Course completion Certificates from Marriage Care were presented to the participants by Fr. Thomas Quadros, and Mementos to the Trainers along with a ‘Thank You’ Card. There was also voluntary involvement by some participants in providing Folders and Stationery, Photo-copying Services, and hosting the Friday Lunch and other snacks/refreshments for the evening sessions. |
